Rigid but nonmetallic cranioplasty after pterional craniotomy: Technical note
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Given the popularity of pterional craniotomy, numerous modifications have been made to prevent postoperative deformities. With advent titanium plates, fixation has become both simple and excellent. However, plates can cause skin problems, infection, or skull growth fail. Methods: To develop a simple, cost-effective, esthetically satisfactory method, without use non-metallic materials, six young older patients underwent craniotomy. CranioFix Absorbable clamps were used fix bone flap in frontal temporal regions such that part was close contact with skull. After fixation, chips dust placed gap fixed fibrin glue. We measured computed tomography values reconstructed area thickness profiles postoperatively over time. Results: Bone fusion achieved all by 1 year after surgery. Both temporalis muscle profile had changed within 2 mm as compared preoperative state. Conclusion: Our craniotomy technique, gentle tissue handling, osteoplastic cranioplasty yielded esthetic results rigidness

Modified Cranialization and Secondary Cranioplasty for Frontal Sinus Infection after Craniotomy: Technical Note
Frontal sinus infection after incorrect treatment of an opened frontal sinus may require extended approaches. This article aims to introduce modified cranialization technique and secondary cranioplasty for frontal sinus infection involving the frontal sinus outflow tract after craniotomy. Eight patients with delayed onset frontal sinus infection involving frontal outflow tract after craniotomy ...
متن کاملOrbitozygomatic craniotomy. Technical note.
The orbitozygomatic approach provides wide, multidirectional access to the anterior and middle cranial fossae, as well as to the upper third of the posterior fossa and clivus. The authors describe technical details of the surgical approach as it has evolved over 3.5 years of experience in 83 consecutive cases. This modified technique eliminates the need for bone reconstruction of the orbital wa...
متن کاملIn-situ Cranioplasty after Microvascular Decompression: A Technical Note.
Cranioplasty is not only performed for cosmetic reasons but also for physiological requirements to balance the cerebral hemodynamics and to protect the brain from external traumas. Methyl methacrylate is one of the most preferred materials for cranioplasty. It is usually prepared out of the surgical site and therefore modelling of the cranioplasty material to fit the bone defect is sometimes di...
متن کاملCranioplasty with the Medpor porous polyethylene flexblock implant. Technical note.
The authors describe the use of a porous polyethylene Flexblock implant for cosmetic cranioplasty. The implant may be used to cover any small- or medium-sized (< 8 cm) cranial defect, offering similar cosmetic results to standard alloplast cranioplasty while decreasing operation time. The porous implant design permits ingrowth of soft tissue and bone to increase implant strength and decrease th...
متن کاملCustomised Cranioplasty Implant for Decompressive Craniectomy Patients -A Technical Note.
Cranioplasty is a commonly performed procedure following decompressive craniectomy. The patients are usually young earning persons and increasing cost of treatment is difficult to bear especially in low and middle income countries. A variety of options are available for cranioplasty ranging from autologus bone graft to xenograft and synthetic materials. Presently the autologous cryopreserved or...
